قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، ثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ الْجُعْفِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ:
خَرَجَ عُمَرُ ؓ إِلَى أَهْلِ الصُّفَّةِ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا تُهَنُّونِي ؟ قَالُوا: وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؟ قَالَ ؓ: تَزَوَّجْتُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ ؓ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَلِفَاطِمَةَ، وَلِعَلِيٍّ ؓ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ.. فَذَكَرَهُ، قَالَ: فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ
Translation

✧ Umar ؓ went out to the people of the Suffah and said: 'Will you not congratulate me?' They said: 'For what, O Commander of the Faithful?' He said ؓ: 'I married Umm Kulthum ؓ, who is related to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Fatimah and Ali ؓ, and I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say...' – and he mentioned it. He said: 'So I wanted to be that.'
