✧ While the Messenger of God ﷺ was sitting with Aisha ؓ behind him, Abu Bakr ؓ asked permission and entered, then Umar ؓ asked permission and entered, then Ali ؓ asked permission and entered, then Sa'd ؓ asked permission and entered, then Uthman ؓ asked permission and entered, while the Messenger of God ﷺ was conversing with his knee uncovered. He stretched his knee and said to his wife: "Move back from me." They conversed for a while, then they left. Aisha ؓ said: "I said: O Messenger of God, your companions entered upon you and you did not adjust your garment over your knees, and you did not move me away from you, until Uthman ؓ entered?!" He ﷺ said: "Should I not feel shy before a man who feels shy before God and His Messenger? If he entered while you were close to me, he would not raise his head nor converse until he left."
