✧ His ﷺ Notifying of the Caliphs After Him

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُطِيعٍ، ثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنِ الْعَوَامِّ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ - ؓ قَالَتْ:
لَمَّا أَسَّسَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَسْجِدَ الْمَدِينَةِ جَاءَ بِحَجَرٍ فَوَضَعَهُ، وَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ بِحَجَرٍ فَوَضَعَهُ، وَجَاءَ عُمَرُ ؓ بِحَجَرٍ فَوَضَعَهُ، وَجَاءَ عُثْمَانُ ؓ بِحَجَرٍ فَوَضَعَهُ، قَالَ: فَسُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: هَذَا أَمْرُ الْخِلَافَةِ مِنْ بَعْدِي
Translation

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ founded the mosque of Madinah, he came with a stone and placed it. Abu Bakr ؓ came with a stone and placed it. ‘Umar ؓ came with a stone and placed it. ‘Uthman ؓ came with a stone and placed it. He said, ‘The Messenger of God ﷺ was asked about that, and he said, “This is the matter of the caliphate after me.”’”
