✧ I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey. He would not go to relieve himself until he had gone out of sight and could not be seen. We camped in a desolate land with no trees or landmarks. He ﷺ said, 'O Jabir, go and put some water in the water-skin, then let us go until we cannot be seen.' He ؓ said: And there he ﷺ was, between two trees with some cubits between them. He said to me, 'O Jabir, go to these two trees and say to them: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands you both to come together so that I may sit behind you both.' So they came together, and he ﷺ sat behind them, then they returned to their places. He said: And we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a desolate land, as if birds were shading our heads. A woman with her child came to us and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, this child is seized by the devil three times every day.' He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped, then took the child and carried him between himself and the front of the saddle. Then he ﷺ said, 'Begone, enemy of Allah, I am the Messenger of Allah.' Then he ﷺ handed the child back to her. When we completed our journey and passed by that place, the woman and her child came to us, and with her were two rams. She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, accept these two from me. By the One who sent you with the truth, it has not returned to him since.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Take one of them and return the other.' He said: Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ moved on, and we moved on with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among us, as if birds were shading our heads. Then a stray camel came and fell down prostrating between the two rows. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped and said to the people, 'Who owns this camel?' A group of young men from the Ansar ؓ said, 'It is ours, O Messenger of Allah.' He ﷺ said, 'What is the matter with it?' They said, 'We worked it for twenty years, and it had a little fat on it, so we wanted to slaughter it and divide it among our servants.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Will you sell it to me?' They said, 'Rather, it is yours, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'As for no, then be good to it until its appointed time comes.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we are more worthy of prostrating to you than the beasts.' He ﷺ said, 'If it were fitting for a human to prostrate to anyone, women would prostrate to their husbands.'
