✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray two rak'ahs before 'Asr. A delegation of Banu al-Mustaliq came to him, and he had sent al-Walid b. 'Uqba to collect the zakah of their wealth after the battle. When they heard of that, some of them rode out and said: We will honor the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, guide him through the land, and speak with him. When he heard of them, he returned and said: O Messenger of Allah, Banu al-Mustaliq have withheld their zakah. When they heard that he had returned, they followed his tracks until they arrived in Madinah. They prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the first row of the first prayer. When he said the salam, they said: We seek refuge in Allah and His Messenger from His anger and the anger of His Messenger. They continued to apologize until the mu'adhdhin came for the 'Asr prayer. Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed: 'O you who believe, if a disobedient person comes to you with information, verify it, lest you harm a people out of ignorance' (49:6).
