✧ Uthman ؓ forbade hoarding, but a man kept interceding until he left his client [continue hoarding]. Then al-Zubayr b. al-Awwam ؓ entered the market and found the clients of Banu Umayyah hoarding. He began striking them. While he was doing so, Uthman ؓ approached on a mule or a mount. Al-Zubayr walked to him, took hold of the mule's bridle, and shook it violently. I think he said to him: "You and you..." But it was harsh speech. Then he left him. When Uthman dismounted, a cushion was placed for him and he sat on it. Al-Zubayr ؓ came and greeted him, saying, "By Allah, O Commander of the Faithful, I know you have a right over me, but I am a man who, when I see something wrong, cannot be patient." Uthman ؓ said to him, "Sit," and he seated him on the cushion beside him.
