حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ السَّبَّاقِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ قَالَتْ
خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمًا خَاثِرًا فَقُلْتُ مَا لِي أَرَاكَ خَاثِرًا؟ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ وَعَدَنِي فَمَا أَخْلَفَنِي» فَظَلَّ يَوْمَهُ كَذَلِكَ وَلَيْلَتَهُ وَمَعِي كَلْبٌ تَحْتَ نَضَدٍ لَنَا فَأَمَرَ بِهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ مَاءً فَنَضَحَ بِهِ مَكَانَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ إِنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ صُورَةٌ وَلَا كَلْبٌ قَالَتْ وَكَانَ يُكَلَّمُ فِي كَلْبِ الْحَائِطِ الصَّغِيرِ فَمَا يَأْذَنُ فِيهِ

✧ One day the Messenger of God ﷺ came out looking dejected. I said, "Why do I see you dejected?" He said, "Gabriel promised me, and he has not broken his promise." He remained like that all day and night. I had a dog under a bed of ours, so he ordered it removed. Then he took some water in his hand and sprinkled it in its place. Then Gabriel came and said, "We do not enter a house where there is an image or a dog." She said: He would be spoken to about the small dog of the orchard, but he never permitted it.
