✧ Covering the ʿawrah

وَرَوَاهُ الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ [الشَّاشِيُّ ] ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ [سَعْدٍ] الْعَوْفِيُّ، ثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، ثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، حَدَّثَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ، قَالَ:

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَنَا كَاشِفٌ عَنْ فَخِذِي، فَقَالَ: « يَا عَلِيُّ، غَطِّ فَخِذَكَ فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْعَوْرَةِ

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ entered upon me while I had uncovered my thigh. He said: “O ʿAlī, cover your thigh, for it is part of the ʿawrah.”
