✧ O Ibn Mas'ud, do you know which of the bonds of faith is firmest? I said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah, Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said this to me three times. He ﷺ said: 'Indeed, the firmest bond of faith is love for the sake of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and hatred for the sake of Allah, Exalted.' Then he ﷺ said to me: 'O Ibn Mas'ud.' I said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He ﷺ said: 'Do you know which of the people is most virtuous?' I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best,' until he said it three times. He ﷺ said: 'Indeed, the most virtuous of them in knowledge is the one who has understanding in their religion.' Then he ﷺ said: 'O Ibn Mas'ud.' I said: 'At your service, O Messenger of Allah.' He ﷺ said: 'Do you know which of the people is most knowledgeable?' until he said it three times. I said: 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He ﷺ said: 'The most knowledgeable of them is the one who sees the truth most clearly when people differ, even if he is deficient in deeds, and even if he crawls on his backside.'

machine translationThis is a mistake; it is only al-Ṣaʿq b. Ḥazn, from ʿAqīl al-Jaʿdī, from Abū Isḥāq, and Ḥarb has no place in it. The hadith itself is rejected (munkar) and does not resemble the hadith of Abū Isḥāq. It seems that this ʿAqīl was a Bedouin, and as for al-Ṣaʿq, there is no harm in him.
