✧ Clarification That the Default Ruling for Things Is Permissibility

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى فَرَضَ فَرَائِضَ فَلَا تُضَيِّعُوهَا، وَحَدَّ حُدُودًا فَلَا تَعْتَدُوهَا، وَحَرَّمَ أَشْيَاءَ فَلَا تَنْتَهِكُوهَا، وَسَكَتَ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ نِسْيَانٍ رَحْمَةً لَكُمْ، فَلَا تَبْحَثُوا عَنْهَا

Translation

✧ Indeed, Allah the Exalted has imposed obligations, so do not neglect them; He has set limits, so do not transgress them; He has forbidden things, so do not violate them; and He has remained silent about things out of mercy for you, not out of forgetfulness, so do not seek them out.
