✧ On the Command to Cover the Vessel at Night

وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ قَالَ:
اسْتَسْقَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ: أَلَا آتِيكَ بِشَرَابٍ نَصْنَعُهُ ؟ قَالَ: « بَلَى ». قَالَ: فَأُتِيَ بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ نَبِيذٌ، قَالَ ﷺ: « فَهَلَّا أَكْبَبْتَ عَلَيْهِ إِنَاءً وَعَرَضْتَ عَلَيْهِ عُودًا ؟ » قَالَ: فَشَرِبَ ﷺ مِنْهُ فَقَطَّبَ، فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ شَرِبَ وَسَقَاهُ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked for water while he was circumambulating the House. A man among them said, 'Shall I bring you a drink that we make?' He said, 'Yes.' He said: A vessel containing nabidh was brought. He ﷺ said, 'Why did you not turn a vessel over it and place a stick across it?' He said: He ﷺ drank from it and frowned. Then he called for water and poured it over it, then he drank and gave others to drink.
