✧ The Religion Is Ease

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ مِخْرَاقٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ، قَالَ:

كَانَ مِنَّا ثَلَاثَةُ نَفَرٍ صَحِبُوا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ: بُرَيْدَةُ، وَمِحْجَنٌ، وَسُكْبَةُ، فَقَالَ مِحْجَنٌ لِبُرَيْدَةَ: أَلَا تُصَلِّي كَمَا يُصَلِّي سُكْبَةُ ؟ فَقَالَ: لَا، لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي أَقْبَلْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أُحُدٍ نَتَمَاشَى يَدُهُ فِي يَدِي، فَرَأَى ﷺ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي، فَقَالَ: أَتُرَاهُ جِدًّا، أَتُرَاهُ صَادِقًا ؟، فَذَهَبْتُ أُثْنِي عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا دَنَوْنَا نَزَعَ ﷺ يَدَهُ مِنْ يَدِي، وَقَالَ: وَيْحَكَ، اسْكُتْ، لَا تُسْمِعْهُ فَتُهْلِكَهُ، إِنَّ خَيْرَ دِينِكُمْ أَيْسَرُهُ

Translation

✧ There were three of us who accompanied the Prophet ﷺ: Buraydah, Mihjan, and Sukbah. Mihjan said to Buraydah: 'Will you not pray as Sukbah prays?' He said: 'No. I saw myself coming with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Uhud, walking along with his hand in mine, when he ﷺ saw a man praying. He said: "Do you consider him earnest? Do you consider him sincere?" I went to praise him, but when we drew near he ﷺ withdrew his hand from mine and said: "Woe to you! Be silent, do not let him hear you lest you destroy him. The best of your religion is its easiest."'
