✧ When Marwan fought al-Dahhak b. Qays, he sent to Ayman b. Khuraym al-Asadi and said: 'We would like you to fight with us.' He said: 'My father and my uncle witnessed Badr and enjoined me not to fight anyone who testifies that there is no god but Allah. If you bring me a guarantee, I will fight with you.' He said: 'Go,' and he spoke ill of him and insulted him. Then Ayman b. Khuraym began to say: 'I am not one to kill a man who prays, on the authority of another from Quraysh; to him his authority, and to me my sin. I seek refuge in Allah from ignorance and recklessness. Should I kill a Muslim for no reason? It will not benefit me as long as I live.'
