✧ When Marwan fought al-Dahhak b. Qays, he sent to Ayman b. Khuraym al-Asadi and said, "We would like you to fight with us." He said, "My father and my uncle witnessed Badr and instructed me not to fight anyone who testifies that there is no god but Allah. If you bring me a clearance from the Fire, I will fight with you." He said, "Go," and he reviled and insulted him. So Ayman began to recite: "I am not one to fight a man who prays, on behalf of another authority from Quraysh; his is his authority, and upon me is my sin. God forbid ignorance and recklessness! Should I fight a Muslim for nothing? It will not benefit me as long as I live."
