✧ Abu Bakr ؓ went out one day, and the Prophet ﷺ met him. He said to him: What have you brought, O Messenger of God? He said ﷺ: The intellect. He said: With what were you commanded? He said: With the intellect. He said: With what will people be recompensed on the Day of Resurrection? He said: With the intellect. He said: How can we attain intellect? He said: The intellect has no limit, but whoever declares lawful what God has made lawful and forbids what God has made forbidden is called a man of intellect. If he strives in worship and excels—or rises—in the ranks of good but has no share of intellect to guide him to follow the command of God Almighty and avoid what He has forbidden, then those are the greatest losers in deeds, whose effort goes astray in the life of this world while they think they are doing well.
