✧ I passed by and found the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on al-Ṣafā with his cheek against the cheek of a man. Then he left. Soon after, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me, so I went straight to him. He said: 'O Muḥammad b. Maslamah, what prevented you from greeting?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I saw you do something with that man that you had not done with anyone else, and I disliked interrupting your conversation. Who was that, O Messenger of Allah?' He ﷺ said: 'Jibrīl. If you had greeted, we would have returned your greeting.' He said: 'And what did he say to you, O Messenger of Allah?' He ﷺ said: 'He kept enjoining me [to be kind] to the neighbor until I expected him to command me to make him an heir.'
