وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادٌ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ، قَالَ:
قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَكَانَ أَوَّلُ مَا أَوْصَانِي بِهِ، أَنْ قَالَ: « يَا بُنَيَّ، اكْتُمْ سِرِّي تَكُنْ مُؤْمِنًا »، وَكَانَتْ أُمِّي وَأَزْوَاجُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْأَلْنَنِي عَنْ سِرِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَلَا أُخْبِرُهُمْ بِهِ، وَمَا أَنَا بِمُخْبِرٍ بِسِرِّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَحَدًا أَبَدًا.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, and it was the first thing he enjoined upon me, he said: «My son, conceal my secret and you will be a believer.» My mother and the wives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to ask me about the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I would not inform them of it. I will never inform anyone of the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, ever.
