✧ Censure of Slander

أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ: وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِي عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ؓ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

« ثَلَاثَةٌ يَلْعَنُهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالَى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ: رَجُلٌ رَغِبَ عَنْ وَالِدَيْهِ، وَآخَرُ سَعَى فِي تَفْرِيقٍ بَيْنَ رَجُلٍ وَامْرَأَةٍ لِيَخْلُفَ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدَهُ، وَآخَرُ سَعَى بِالْأَحَادِيثِ بَيْنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، لِيَتَعَادَوْا وَيَتَبَاغَضُوا

Translation

✧ Three are cursed by Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection: a man who turns away from his parents; another who strives to separate a man and his wife so that he may marry her after him; and another who spreads tales among the believers so that they become enemies and hate one another.
