✧ Censure of one who does not fall ill

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ، قَالَ:

إِنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بِنْتٌ لِي كَذَا وَكَذَا - فَذَكَرَتْ مِنْ حُسْنِهَا وَجَمَالِهَا - فَأُوثِرُكَ بِهَا، قَالَ ﷺ: « قَدْ قَبِلْتُهَا » فَلَمْ تَزَلْ تَمْدَحُهَا حَتَّى ذَكَرَتْ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تُصْدَعْ وَلَمْ تَشْتَكِ قَطُّ، قَالَ: « لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِي ابْنَتِكِ »

✧ A woman came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, I have a daughter who is such and such” – she mentioned her beauty and comeliness – “and I would give her to you in marriage.” He ﷺ said: “I have accepted her.” She kept praising her until she mentioned that she had never had a headache or any complaint. He said: “I have no need of your daughter.”
