✧ Offering a Woman in Marriage to a Righteous Man

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

إِنَّ امْرَأَةً أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بِنْتٌ لِي كَذَا وَكَذَا... فَذَكَرَتْ مِنْ حُسْنِهَا وَجَمَالِهَا، فَأُوثِرُكَ بِهَا. قَالَ ﷺ: قَدْ قَبِلْتُهَا. فَلَمْ تَزَلْ تَمْدَحُهَا حَتَّى ذَكَرَتْ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تُصْدَعْ وَلَمْ تَشْتَكِ شَيْئًا قَطُّ، قَالَ ﷺ: لَا حَاجَةَ لِي فِي ابْنَتِكِ

Translation

✧ A woman came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a daughter who is such and such...' and she mentioned her beauty and attractiveness, and said, 'I prefer you for her.' He ﷺ said: 'I have accepted her.' She continued praising her until she mentioned that she had never had a headache or complained of anything. He ﷺ said: 'I have no need of your daughter.'
