✧ Expiation for illness, reward of the sick, and that the believer is afflicted so his reward may increase

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ:
دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ وَأَنَا مَرِيضٌ، مَغْلُوبٌ، فَقَالَ: صَلَّى صَاحِبُكُمْ ؟ قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: أَمَا إِنِّي نُبِّئْتُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ عَبْدٌ يَشْتَكِي إِلَّا كَتَبَ اللهُ تَعَالَى لَهُ مَا كَانَ يَعْمَلُ وَهُوَ صَحِيحٌ، حَتَّى يَقْبِضَهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَوْ يَرْفَعَهُ
Translation

✧ Abu Hurayrah ؓ entered upon me while I was sick and overcome. He said: "Did your companion pray?" They said: "Yes." He said: "I have been informed that there is no servant who complains of illness except that Allah Most High writes for him [the reward of] what he used to do when healthy, until Allah, Mighty and Majestic, takes his soul or restores him."
