وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ

كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ: " الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي كَفَانَا وَآوَانَا وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي أَنْعَمَ عَلَيْنَا وَأَفْضَلَ، نَسْأَلُهُ بِرَحْمَتِهِ أَنْ يُجِيرَنَا مِنَ النَّارِ فَرُبَّ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ لَا يَجِدُ مُنْقَلَبًا وَلَا مَأْوًى

Translation

✧ He used to say when he finished his food: “Praise be to Allah who fed us and gave us drink, and praise be to Allah who sufficed us and sheltered us, and praise be to Allah who bestowed favor upon us and was bountiful. We ask Him by His mercy to protect us from the Fire, for many a one who is not sufficed finds no place to turn and no shelter.”
