al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2680

✧ Prohibition of silk for men and its permissibility for women, and the permissibility of selling it to one for whom wearing it is allowed

- وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ

أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، دَخَلَ عَلَى ابْنِ عَامِرٍ ؓ، وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى فِرَاشٍ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ، فَقَالَ: لَأَنْ أَجْلِسَ عَلَى جَمْرِ الْغَضَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَجْلِسَ عَلَى هَذَا

Translation

✧ Sa'd b. Malik entered upon Ibn 'Amir ؓ while he was reclining on a mattress of fine silk. He said: "To sit on burning coals of ghada wood is dearer to me than to sit on this."
