al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2600

✧ What is feared for one who judges without right

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ: حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثَنَا بَعْضُ الْمَشْيَخَةِ، عَنْ نُفَيْعٍ أَبِي دَاوُدَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ؓ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى مَعَ الْقَاضِي مَا لَمْ يَتَعَمَّدْ حَيْفًا أَوْ مَا لَمْ يَحِفْ عَمْدًا، وَيُوَفِّقُهُ لِلْحَقِّ مَا لَمْ يُرِدْ غَيْرَهُ.

Translation

  5. ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn

✧ Allah, the Exalted, is with the judge as long as he does not deliberately incline to injustice, or as long as he does not intentionally deviate, and He grants him success in [attaining] the truth as long as he does not desire other than it.
