✧ Obligatory and Recommended Ghusls

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، ؓ قَالَ:

« الْغُسْلُ مِنْ خَمْسٍ: الْحِجَامَةِ، وَالْحَمَّامِ، وَالْجَنَابَةِ، وَالْمَوْتَى، وَالْجُمُعَةِ ». قَالَ: فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ وَقَالَ: مَا كَانُوا يَعُدُّونَ غُسْلًا وَاجِبًا إِلَّا الْجَنَابَةَ، وَكَانُوا يَسْتَحِبُّونَ غُسْلَ الْجُمُعَةِ

Translation

✧ “Ghusl is from five things: cupping, the bathhouse, janabah, the dead, and Friday.” He said: That was mentioned to Ibrahim, and he said: They did not consider any ghusl obligatory except janabah, and they used to recommend the Friday ghusl.
