✧ The Woman Belongs to Her Last Husband in the Hereafter

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْقُرَشِيُّ، نَبَا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ قَالَ:
خَطَبَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أُمَّ الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ، فَأَبَتْ أَنْ تَتَزَوَّجَهُ. قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: « الْمَرْأَةُ لِآخِرِ أَزْوَاجِهَا »، وَلَسْتُ أُرِيدُ بِأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ بَدَلًا

✧ Mu'awiyah proposed to Umm al-Darda' ؓ, but she refused to marry him. She said: I heard Abu al-Darda' ؓ say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The woman belongs to her last husband,” and I do not want a replacement for Abu al-Darda'.
