✧ Prohibition of Playing with Divorce and Encouragement to Divorce in Accordance with the Sunnah for One Who Wants It

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الدَّالَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ، قَالَ:

بَلَغَ أَبَا مُوسَى ؓ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَأَتَاهُ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: « يَقُولُ أَحَدُكُمْ: قَدْ تَزَوَّجْتُ، قَدْ طَلَّقْتُ، وَلَيْسَ كَذَا عِدَّةُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، طَلِّقِ الْمَرْأَةَ فِي قُبُلِ عِدَّتِهَا

Translation

✧ News reached Abu Musa ؓ that the Prophet ﷺ was displeased with them, so he came to him and mentioned that. He said: 'One of you says, "I married, I divorced," but that is not the way of the Muslims. Divorce the woman in the beginning of her waiting period.'
