✧ The Husband's Right Over the Woman

وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِي، عَنِ الْإِفْرِيقِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي عُمَارَةُ بْنُ غُرَابٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ عَمَّةً لَهُ حَدَّثَتْهُ

أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، قَالَتْ: إِنَّ زَوْجَ إِحْدَانَا يُرِيدُهَا فَتَمْنَعُهُ نَفْسَهَا ; إِمَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ غَضْبَى، وَإِمَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ غَيْرَ نَشِيطَةٍ لَهُ. فَهَلْ عَلَيْهَا فِي ذَلِكَ مِنْ حَرَجٍ ؟ قَالَتْ: « نَعَمْ. إِنَّ حَقَّهُ عَلَيْكِ أَنْ لَوْ أَرَادَكِ وَأَنْتِ عَلَى قَتَبٍ لَمْ تَمْنَعِيهِ

Translation

✧ She asked ʿĀʾishah ؓ, the Mother of the Believers, saying: "One of our husbands desires her, and she withholds herself from him, either because she is angry or because she is not eager for him. Is there any sin upon her in that?" She said: "Yes. His right over you is that if he desired you while you were on a camel saddle, you should not refuse him."
