  • Shafiʿī

machine translationAl-Shāfiʿī inclined in al-Umm to the view that this text is mass-transmitted (mutawātir), and said: "We found the people of legal rulings, and those of the people of knowledge of the military expeditions (maghāzī) among Quraysh and others whom we have memorized from, not disagreeing that the Prophet ﷺ said in the year of the Conquest: 'There is no bequest for an heir.' And they transmit it from those of the people of knowledge whom they met and from whom they memorized it. So it is a transmission of the many from the many, and it is stronger than the transmission of a single person."

machine translationAl-Fakhr al-Rāzī disputed that this hadith is mass-transmitted (mutawātir).

  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationThe chain of each of them is not free of criticism, but their totality indicates that the hadith has a basis.
