✧ Ali ؓ brought him a dinar he found in the market, and he ﷺ said: ‘Announce it for three days.’ He announced it, but found no one who recognized it. He returned to the Prophet ﷺ and told him, and he said: ‘Eat it, or do as you wish with it.’ So he bought with it barley for three dirhams, dates for three dirhams, meat for one dirham, and oil for one dirham, and one dirham remained with him—the exchange rate was eleven dirhams per dinar. Later its owner came and recognized it. Ali ؓ said to him: ‘The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me,’ and he mentioned that to him. The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘If anything comes to us, we will pay it to you.’
