✧ Lending and the Warning against Taking on Debt and Encouragement of Patience with the Insolvent

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ - وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ -:

مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَسْتَظِلَّ أَوْ يُظِلَّهُ اللهُ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ أَوْ مِنْ حَرِّ جَهَنَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ الْقَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ: نَحْنُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ! قَالَ: مَنْ أَنْظَرَ مُعْسِرًا أَوْ وَضَعَ عَنْ غَرِيمِهِ

Translation

✧ Whoever loves to be shaded, or for God to shade him from the heat of Hell or from the scorching wind of Hell? All the people said: 'We do, O Messenger of God!' He said: 'Whoever grants respite to one in difficulty or forgives his debtor.'
