وَقَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ بَعْدَ قَوْلِهِ: ( وَأَعْطَاهَا دِرْهَمَهَا ):

فَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ تَرْضَى عَنِّي يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ. قَالَ ؓ: مَا أَرْضَانِي عَنْكَ إِذَا أَوْفَيْتَهُمْ. وَزَادَ بَعْدَهُ قَوْلَهُ: يَرْبُو كَسْبُكُمْ. ثُمَّ مَرَّ مُجْتَازًا وَمَعَهُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ، حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى أَصْحَابِ السَّمَكِ، فَقَالَ: لَا يُبَاعُ فِي سُوقِنَا طَافٍ، ثُمَّ أَتَى دَارَ بَزَّازٍ - وَهِيَ سُوقُ الْكَرَابِيسِ - فَأَتَى شَيْخًا، فَقَالَ: يَا شَيْخُ، أَحْسِنْ بَيْعِي فِي قَمِيصٍ

Translation

✧ For I would love for you to be pleased with me, O Commander of the Faithful. He ؓ said, "I will only be pleased with you when you give them their full due." And he added after that his saying: "Your earnings will increase." Then he passed by, accompanied by the Muslims, until he reached the fish sellers. He said, "No floating fish is to be sold in our market." Then he came to the cloth merchant's shop—which is the market of fine linen—and came to an old man and said, "O old man, be good in selling me a shirt."
