حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ، قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ عَنِ الْحِنْطَةِ بِالتَّمْرِ بِفَضْلٍ، يَدًا بِيَدٍ ؟ فَقَالَ: قَدْ كُنَّا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَشْتَرِي الصَّاعَ الْحِنْطَةَ بِسِتَّةِ آصُعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ، يَدًا بِيَدٍ، فَإِنْ كَانَ نَوْعًا وَاحِدًا فَلَا خَيْرَ فِيهِ، إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ

✧ I asked Jabir b. Abd Allah ؓ about wheat for dates with excess, hand to hand. He said: "During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we used to buy a sa' of wheat for six sa's of dates, hand to hand. If it is a single type, then there is no good in it except like for like."
