حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنِ الْحِنْطَةِ بِالتَّمْرِ وَفَضْلٍ يَدًا بِيَدٍ، فَقَالَ: قَدْ كُنَّا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَشْتَرِي الصَّاعَ الْحِنْطَةَ بِسِتَّةِ آصُعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ يَدًا بِيَدٍ فَإِنْ كَانَ نَوْعًا وَاحِدًا فَلَا خَيْرَ فِيهِ إِلَّا مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ

✧ I asked Jabir b. Abd Allah about wheat for dates with surplus, hand to hand. He said: During the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ we used to buy a sa' of wheat for six sa's of dates, hand to hand. If it is one type, then there is no good in it except like for like.
