✧ Wiping over the Khuffayn

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، أَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا ؓ يَقُولُ:
« كُنَّا نَمْسَحُ خِفَافَنَا »، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: سَمِعْتَهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: « لَا، وَلَكِنَّا سَمِعْنَاهُ مِمَّنْ لَا يُتَّهَمُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا يَقُولُ: امْسَحْ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، وَاصْنَعْ كَذَا وَكَذَا، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا يُكَنِّي
Translation

✧ "We used to wipe over our khuffs." A man said to him: Did you hear it from the Prophet ﷺ? He said: "No, but we heard it from one of our companions who is not accused, saying: Wipe over the khuffs and do such and such, except that he did not mention (the Prophet) by name."
