وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، ثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ لَا نُكَذِّبُهُ، قَالَ:

أَخْبَرْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ؓ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ، فَأَنْكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ، وَقَالَتْ: يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، لَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، وَلَكِنْ قَالَ: الشَّهْرُ يَكُونُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ

Translation

✧ I informed 'A'ishah ؓ that Ibn 'Umar ؓ says: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The month is twenty-nine.' She denied that and said: 'May Allah forgive Abu 'Abd al-Rahman. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not say that, but he said: The month may be twenty-nine.'
