✧ Reprimand against asking

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ ؓ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

لَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَحْبُلَهُ، فَيَأْتِيَ الْجَبَلَ فَيَحْزِمَ حُزْمَةً مِنْ حَطَبٍ فَيَجْعَلَهَا عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ وَيَأْتِيَ بِهَا السُّوقَ فَيَبِيعَهَا، وَيَأْكُلَ ثَمَنَهَا، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَجُلًا فَيَسْأَلَهُ، أَعْطَاهُ، أَوْ مَنَعَهُ... الْحَدِيثَ

Translation

Chain of narrators

✧ For one of you to take his ropes, go to the mountain, gather a bundle of firewood, place it on his back, bring it to the market and sell it, and eat from its price is better for him than coming to a man and asking him, whether he gives him or refuses him... the hadith.
