machine translationMālik narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah. There is disagreement about Mālik's narration: Juwayriyah, Ibn Nāfiʿ, Muḥammad b. al-Ḥasan, Maʿn and ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated it from Mālik as connected (muttaṣil), while a group of the companions of the Muwaṭṭaʾ narrated it from Mālik, from al-Zuhrī, from al-Aʿraj, that ʿUmar [said], and they did not mention Abū Hurayrah in it. Maʿmar and Yūnus narrated it from al-Zuhrī, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, from ʿUmar, and this is the correct version.
