The Prophet ﷺ was riding with Muadh behind him on the saddle when he said, "O Muadh b. Jabal!" He replied, "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and ready to obey." He said, "O Muadh!" He replied, "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, and ready to obey." This occurred three times. He then said, "There is no one who sincerely testifies from his heart that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah except that Allah will forbid him to the Fire." Muadh said, "O Messenger of Allah, should I not inform the people of this so that they may rejoice?" He replied, "Then they would rely on it." Muadh disclosed it at the time of his death, fearing that he would otherwise be guilty of sin.
