حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالأَبْطَحِ وَهُوَ فِي قُبَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ فَخَرَجَ بِلاَلٌ فَأَذَّنَ فَاسْتَدَارَ فِي أَذَانِهِ وَجَعَلَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ
Translation

لا أحفظ هذه اللفظة إلا عن حجاج بن أرطاة ولست أفهم أسمع الحجاج من عون ابن أبي جحيفة أم لا فأشك في صحة هذا الخبر من هذه العلة
machine translationI do not remember this wording except from Ḥajjāj b. Arṭāh, and I do not understand whether Ḥajjāj heard from ʿAwn b. Abī Juḥayfah or not, so I doubt the authenticity of this report because of this defect.
