✧ I led the Messenger of God ﷺ's mount through one of those mountain passes. He said, "Will you not ride, O ʿUqayb?" I deemed it too grave to ride the Messenger of God ﷺ's mount. Then he said, "Will you not ride, O ʿUqayb?" I feared it might be disobedience, so the Messenger of God ﷺ dismounted, and I rode for a short while, then I dismounted and the Messenger of God ﷺ rode. Then he said, "O ʿUqayb, shall I not teach you two sūrahs of the best two sūrahs that people recite?" I said, "Yes, O Messenger of God." He made me recite Qul Aʿūdhu bi-Rabb al-Falaq and Qul Aʿūdhu bi-Rabb al-Nās. Then the prayer was commenced, and he prayed and recited them. Then he passed by me and said, "How did you find it, O ʿUqayb? Recite them whenever you sleep and whenever you rise."
