✧ At the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when prayer came, a man would walk in the road and call, “Prayer, prayer.” That became difficult for the people, so they said, “O Messenger of Allah, why not use a bell?” He said, “That is for the Christians.” They said, “Then why not use a horn?” He said, “That is for the Jews.” He said, “So Bilal was ordered to make the call to prayer even and the commencement single.”
