وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْحُرِّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ يُدْعَى حَنَشًا، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى - وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ أَحْمَدَ - قَالَ:

كَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّى عَلِيٌّ بِالنَّاسِ، بَدَأَ فَقَرَأَ بِـ يس أَوْ نَحْوِهَا، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ نَحْوًا مِنْ قَدْرِ السُّورَةِ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، ثُمَّ قَامَ قَدْرَ السُّورَةِ يَدْعُو، وَيُكَبِّرُ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ قَدْرَ قِرَاءَتِهِ أَيْضًا، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَقَالَ: ثُمَّ قَامَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ، فَفَعَلَ كَفِعْلِهِ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى، ثُمَّ حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ كَذَلِكَ يَفْعَلُ.

✧ The sun eclipsed, and 'Ali led the people in prayer. He began and recited Yasin or something similar, then bowed for about the length of the surah, then raised his head and said: 'Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah.' Then he stood for the length of the surah, supplicating and saying takbir, then bowed for the length of his recitation as well. Then he mentioned the hadith and said: 'Then he stood in the second rak'ah and did as he had done in the first rak'ah.' Then he told them that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do that.
