machine translationʿAṭāʾ b. al-Sāʾib is disputed as to whether he can be used as evidence, and he became confused (ikhtalaṭa) at the end of his life. However, Ibn Khuzaymah reported it from the narration of Sufyān al-Thawrī from him, and he is among those who heard from him before his confusion. As for his father, al-ʿIjlī and Ibn Ḥibbān declared him trustworthy (thiqah).
