Incitement to fight the Messenger
[ خُرُوجُ قُرَيْشٍ مَعَهُمْ نِسَاؤُهُمْ ] ( قَالَ ) فَخَرَجَتْ قُرَيْشٌ بِحَدِّهَا وَجَدِّهَا وَحَدِيدِهَا وَأَحَابِيشِهَا، وَمَنْ تَابَعَهَا مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ، وَأَهْلِ تِهَامَةَ، وَخَرَجُوا مَعَهُمْ بِالظُّعْنِ ؟ الْتِمَاسَ الْحَفِيظَةِ، وَأَلَّا يَفِرُّوا. فَخَرَجَ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، وَهُوَ قَائِدُ النَّاسِ، بِهِنْدٍ بْنَةِ عُتْبَةَ وَخَرَجَ عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ أَبِي جَهْلٍ بِأُمِّ حَكِيمٍ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَخَرَجَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بِفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، وَخَرَجَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ بِبَرْزَةَ بِنْتِ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ الثَّقَفِيَّةِ، وَهِيَ أُمُّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ: رُقَيَّةُ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَخَرَجَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ بِرَيْطَةَ بِنْتِ مُنَبِّهِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ وَهِيَ أُمُّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، وَخَرَجَ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الدَّارِ، بِسُلَافَةَ بِنْتِ سَعْدِ بْنِ شَهِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ وَهِيَ أُمُّ بَنِي طَلْحَةَ: مُسَافِعُ وَالْجُلَاسُ وَكِلَابٌ، قُتِلُوا يَوْمئِذٍ ( هُمْ ) وَأَبُوهُمْ؛ وَخَرَجَتْ خُنَاسُ بِنْتُ مَالِكٍ بْنِ الْمُضْرِبِ إحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي مَالِكِ بْنِ حِسْلٍ مَعَ ابْنِهَا أَبِي عَزِيزِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، وَهِيَ أُمُّ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، وَخَرَجَتْ عَمْرَةُ بِنْتُ عَلْقَمَةَ إحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ. وَكَانَتْ هِنْدُ بِنْتُ عُتْبَةَ كُلَّمَا مَرَّتْ بِوَحْشِيٍّ أَوْ مَرَّ بِهَا، قَالَتْ: وَيْهَا أَبَا دَسْمَةَ اشْفِ وَاسْتَشْفِ، وَكَانَ وَحْشِيٌّ يُكَنَّى بِأَبِي دَسْمَةَ، فَأَقْبَلُوا حَتَّى نَزَلُوا بِعَيْنَيْنِ، بِجَبَلٍ بِبَطْنِ السَّبْخَةِ مِنْ قَنَاةٍ عَلَى شَفِيرِ الْوَادِي، مُقَابِلَ الْمَدِينَةِ. [ رُؤْيَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ] ( قَالَ ) فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ بِهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَالْمُسْلِمُونَ قَدْ نَزَلُوا حَيْثُ نَزَلُوا، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ: إنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ وَاَللَّهِ خَيْرًا، رَأَيْتُ بَقَرًا، وَرَأَيْتُ فِي ذُبَابِ سَيْفِي ثَلْمًا، وَرَأَيْتُ أَنِّي أَدْخَلْتُ يَدِي فِي دِرْعٍ حَصِينَةٍ، فَأَوَّلْتُهَا الْمَدِينَةَ قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَحَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ بَقَرًا لِي تُذْبَحُ ؟ قَالَ: فَأَمَّا الْبَقَرُ فَهِيَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِي يُقْتَلُونَ، وَأَمَّا الثَّلْمُ الَّذِي رَأَيْتُ فِي ذُبَابِ سَيْفِي، فَهُوَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِي يُقْتَلُ
Translation
✧ [The departure of Quraysh with their women] (He said) Quraysh went forth with all their might, determination, arms, and allies, and those of Banū Kinānah and the people of Tihāmah who followed them. They brought the women in litters, seeking to prevent flight. Abū Sufyān b. Ḥarb, the leader of the people, went out with Hind bt. ʿUtbah; ʿIkrimah b. Abī Jahl went out with Umm Ḥakīm bt. al-Ḥārith b. Hishām b. al-Mughīrah; al-Ḥārith b. Hishām b. al-Mughīrah went out with Fāṭimah bt. al-Walīd b. al-Mughīrah; Ṣafwān b. Umayyah went out with Barzah bt. Masʿūd b. ʿAmr b. ʿUmayr al-Thaqafiyyah, who was the mother of ʿAbd Allāh b. Ṣafwān b. Umayyah. Ibn Hishām said: It is also said: Ruqayyah. Ibn Isḥāq said: ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ went out with Rayṭah bt. Munabbih b. al-Ḥajjāj, who was the mother of ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr; Ṭalḥah b. Abī Ṭalḥah and Abū Ṭalḥah ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā b. ʿUthmān b. ʿAbd al-Dār went out with Sulāfah bt. Saʿd b. Shahīd al-Anṣāriyyah, who was the mother of the sons of Ṭalḥah: Musāfiʿ, al-Julās, and Kilāb. They were killed that day—they and their father—; Khunās bt. Mālik b. al-Muḍrib, one of the women of Banū Mālik b. Ḥisl, went out with her son Abū ʿAzīz b. ʿUmayr, and she was the mother of Muṣʿab b. ʿUmayr; ʿAmrah bt. ʿAlqamah, one of the women of Banū al-Ḥārith b. ʿAbd Manāh b. Kinānah, went out. Hind bt. ʿUtbah, whenever she passed by Waḥshī or he passed by her, would say: "Come on, Abū Dismah! Strike and seek healing!" Waḥshī was nicknamed Abū Dismah. They advanced until they halted at ʿAynayn, by a mountain in the interior of al-Sabkhah of Qanāh, on the edge of the valley, facing Madinah. [The dream of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ] (He said) When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the Muslims heard that they had camped where they camped, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the Muslims: "By Allah, I have seen good: I saw cows, and I saw a notch in the edge of my sword, and I saw that I inserted my hand into a strong coat of mail, which I interpreted as Madinah." Ibn Hishām said: Some people of knowledge told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I saw cows of mine being slaughtered." He said: "As for the cows, they are people of my companions who will be killed; as for the notch I saw in the edge of my sword, it is a man of my household who will be killed."
