Sirat Ibn Hisham 771
Zaynab's departure to Madinah
Translation
✧ [Hind tries to find out Zaynab’s situation] Ibn Isḥāq said: ʿAbd Allāh b. Abī Bakr related to me, saying: I was told on the authority of Zaynab that she said: While I was preparing in Makkah to join my father, Hind bt. ʿUtbah met me and said: “O daughter of Muḥammad, has it not reached me that you intend to join your father?” She said: I said: “I do not intend that.” She said: “O daughter of my paternal uncle, do not do it. If you have need of goods that would ease your journey, or of money to help you reach your father, I have what you need. So do not be wary of me, for what comes between women is not what comes between men.” She said: By God, I do not think she said that except to make me do it. She said: But I feared her, so I denied that I intended that, and I prepared.
