The Messenger's Entreaty to His Lord for Victory
Translation
✧ [The Messenger's earnest entreaty to his Lord for victory] Ibn Isḥāq said: Then the Messenger of God ﷺ straightened the ranks and returned to the shelter and entered it, and with him in it was Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq—none other than he was with him in it. The Messenger of God ﷺ was earnestly entreating his Lord for what He had promised him of victory, saying among what he said: 'O God, if this band perishes today, You will not be worshipped.' And Abū Bakr was saying: 'O Prophet of God, enough of your earnest entreaty to your Lord, for God will surely fulfill for you what He promised you.' The Messenger of God ﷺ had dozed off once while he was in the shelter, then he awoke and said: 'Rejoice, O Abū Bakr, God's help has come to you. This is Gabriel, grasping the rein of a horse and leading it, with dust upon his front teeth.'
