Sirat Ibn Hisham 671
Some accounts of the hypocrites
Translation
✧ [The anger of the Messenger ﷺ at the words of Ibn Ubayy] Ibn Isḥāq said: al-Zuhrī related to me, from ʿUrwah b. al-Zubayr, from Usāmah, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ arose and entered upon Saʿd b. ʿUbādah, and in his face was what the enemy of God Ibn Ubayy had said. He said, 'By God, O Messenger of God, I see something in your face, as if you have heard something you dislike.' He said, 'Yes.' Then he informed him of what Ibn Ubayy had said. Saʿd said, 'O Messenger of God, be gentle with him. By God, God brought you to us while we were stringing beads to crown him. By God, he thinks that you have robbed him of a kingdom.'
