Mention of the emigrants to Madinah
قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ عُتْبَةُ ( بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ): أَصْبَحَتْ دَارُ بَنِي جَحْشٍ خَلَاءً مِنْ أَهْلِهَا فَقَالَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ: وَمَا تَبْكِي عَلَيْهِ مِنْ قُلِّ بْنِ قُلٍّ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: الْقُلُّ: الْوَاحِدُ. قَالَ لَبِيدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ:: كُلُّ بَنِي حُرَّةٍ مُصِيرُهُمْ قُلُّ وَإِنْ أَكْثَرَتْ مِنْ الْعَدَدِ قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: هَذَا عَمَلُ ابْنِ أَخِي هَذَا، فَرَّقَ جَمَاعَتَنَا، وَشَتَّتْ أَمْرَنَا وَقَطَعَ بَيْنَنَا. فَكَانَ مَنْزِلُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَسَدِ، وَعَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَحْشٍ، وَأَخِيهِ أَبِي أَحْمَدَ بْنِ جَحْشٍ، عَلَى مُبْشَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ زُنْبُرٍ بقُباءٍ. فِي بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ، ثُمَّ قَدِمَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ أَرْسَالًا، وَكَانَ بَنُو غَنْمِ ابْنِ دُودَانَ أَهْلَ إسْلَامٍ، قَدْ أَوْعَبُوا إلَى الْمَدِينَةِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ هِجْرَةً رِجَالُهُمْ وَنِسَاؤُهُمْ: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَحْشٍ، وَأَخُوهُ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ جَحْشٍ، وَعُكَّاشَةُ بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ، وَشُجَاعٌ، وَعُقْبَةٌ، ابْنَا وَهْبٍ، وَأَرْبَدُ بْنُ حُمَيِّرَةَ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ ابْنُ حُمَيْرَةَ. [ هِجْرَةُ قَوْمٍ شَتَّى ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَمُنْقِذُ بْنُ نُبَاتَةَ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ رُقَيْشٍ، وَمُحْرِزُ بْنُ نَضْلَةَ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ رُقَيْشٍ، وَقَيْسُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ مِحْصَنٍ، وَمَالِكُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، وَصَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، وَثَقْفُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، وَرَبِيعَةُ بْنُ أَكْثَمَ، وَالزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، وَتَمَّامُ بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ، وَسَخْبَرَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَحْشٍ.
Translation
✧ Ibn Isḥāq said: Then ʿUtbah b. Rabīʿah said: The abode of Banū Jaḥsh has become empty of its people. Abū Jahl said: And why do you weep over it, over a few of a few? Ibn Hishām said: al-qull means the single one. Labīd b. Rabīʿah said: All the sons of a free woman, their destiny is qull, even if they are many in number. Ibn Isḥāq said: Then he said: This is the doing of this son of my brother. He has divided our community, scattered our affairs, and severed relations between us. The dwelling of Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Asad, ʿĀmir b. Rabīʿah, ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaḥsh, and his brother Abū Aḥmad b. Jaḥsh was with Mubashshir b. ʿAbd al-Mundhir b. Zunbur in Qubāʾ, among Banū ʿAmr b. ʿAwf. Then the emigrants came in waves. Banū Ghanm b. Dūdān were people of Islam who had gone out in full to Madinah with the Messenger of God ﷺ as emigrants, their men and their women: ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaḥsh, his brother Abū Aḥmad b. Jaḥsh, ʿUkkāshah b. Miḥṣan, Shujāʿ and ʿUqbah, the two sons of Wahb, and Arbad b. Ḥumayyirah. Ibn Hishām said: It is also said Ibn Ḥumayrah. [The emigration of various people] Ibn Isḥāq said: and Munqidh b. Nubātah, Saʿīd b. Ruqaysh, Muḥriz b. Naḍlah, Yazīd b. Ruqaysh, Qays b. Jābir, ʿAmr b. Miḥṣan, Mālik b. ʿAmr, Ṣafwān b. ʿAmr, Thaqf b. ʿAmr, Rabīʿah b. Aktham, al-Zubayr b. ʿUbayd, Tammām b. ʿUbaydah, Sakhbarah b. ʿUbaydah, and Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Jaḥsh.
