The peace agreement between the Messenger and Yuḥannah

Translation

✧ The peace between the Messenger and Yuḥannā When the Messenger of God ﷺ reached Tabūk, Yuḥannā b. Ruʾbah, the ruler of Aylah, came to him and made peace with the Messenger of God ﷺ, giving him the jizyah. The people of Jarbāʾ and Adhruḥ also came to him and gave him the jizyah. The Messenger of God ﷺ wrote a document for them, which remains with them. The Messenger's document to Yuḥannā He wrote for Yuḥannā b. Ruʾbah: In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. This is a guarantee of security from God, Muḥammad the Prophet, the Messenger of God, to Yuḥannā b. Ruʾbah and the people of Aylah: their ships and their caravans on land and sea—they have the protection of God and the protection of Muḥammad the Prophet, along with those who are with them from the people of Syria, the people of Yemen, and the people of the sea. If any of them commits an offense, his wealth shall not be a barrier to his own punishment. It is lawful for whoever takes it from the people. It is not permissible that they be denied water they come to, nor a road they seek, on land or sea.
